Bruno Schulz, 1892 – 1942<\/strong><\/p>\n Like Alfred Schreyer, Bruno Schulz lived most of his life in Drohobych. He wrote two small, humble books –\u00a0<\/span>The Street of Crocodiles<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>The Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass –\u00a0<\/span><\/em>that today are canons of world literature and translated into countless languages. To make a living he worked as a drawing and carpentry teacher in the high schoolof Drohobych, where he also graduated in 1910.His third book,\u00a0<\/span>The Messiahs<\/em>, was never completed. The manuscript, until today, is lost. Bruno Schulz was also an accomplished painter. He did not survive the Second World War.
